Love Magnifies!

"Let all who seek You

rejoice and be glad in You;

Let those who love Your salvation

say continually, 'The Lord be magnified!'"

Psalms 40:16 NASB1995

"Let all who seek You” - “seek” ( בָּקַשׁ / Bâqash / baw-kash') - This idea of seeking can be by any means but especially in worship and prayer. John 4:23 - God is seeking those who are seeking Him.

rejoice and be glad in You;” - “rejoice” ( שִׂישׂ שׂוּשׂ / śûś śı̂yś / soos, sece) - to be bright. Cheerful. Those who seek the Lord, who find the Lord, who find His salvation are transferred from the domain of darkness to light. (Colossians 1:14) This light should be seen on our faces in our daily rejoicing.

“Let those who love Your salvation - “salvation” (תְּשֻׁעָה / Teshû‛âh / tesh-oo-aw') - to rescue or deliver. Salvation contextually to the psalm certainly can refer to God’s deliverance from our enemies; however, there is no greater enemy spiritually than ourselves. Our own lusts, passions, and desires we seek in place of seeking God. And yet, God in His love provides salvation to us. Even when “we were yet sinners..” (Ephesians 2:1-5) God loved us, and when we come to our senses and love Him, when we love His love, we rejoice in the salvation He provides and we magnify His name! (Acts 8:39; 16:34; Philippians 4:4)

“say continually, 'The Lord be magnified!'" - “magnified” (גָּדַל / Gâdal / gaw-dal') - to make large or great. When we realize what God has done, what God has accomplished for us, for me personally, how could I do anything but exalt, magnify, and glorify His name? “To God be the glory, great things He hath done!” (Frances Jane Crosby) - The greatest of which is to provide salvation to me through His grace, mercy, and love.

God has loved me. (John 3:16) I see that. I understand that. And therefore, I love God. (I John 4:19) I seek God, I rejoice in the Lord, I love His salvation, and so I share that salvation with others. What greater way can I magnify the love and salvation of my great and gracious Lord?!
