The Grace of Jesus Reigns!

“Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.”

Hebrews 4:14-16

The grace of Jesus reigns!

When you know who Jesus is, and you believe who Jesus is, you know His grace reigns. You know He is High Priest, you know He is in heaven, you know He is your Intercessor, you know He lives, and therefore His grace reigns.

Let us therefore draw near with confidence” - Under the old law, to approach the mercy seat in the Holy of Holies was a terrifying experience. To be in the presence of God, and needing to fulfill all of the requirements of presenting oneself before Jehovah, would certainly strike fear/reverence within the heart of man. But in Christ, we draw near with confidence and assurance of the mercy to be extended to us and the grace afforded us by the faithful word of our Savior. The promises of Jesus reign!

That we may receive mercy” - Jesus died to free us from sin both present and past. In baptism, our sins are washed away, we are reborn as citizens of the kingdom, and we have the right and privilege as citizens to appeal to our Lord for forgiveness. To receive mercy for our sins as we humble our hearts in penitence and prayer. (I John 1:9) The mercy of Jesus reigns!

And may find grace” - Where else might we find such grace than at the throne of grace! The grace to heal us. The grace to strengthen us. The grace to give us peace. The grace to help us persevere. The grace to mend us. The grace to encourage us. The grace of Jesus was not just a one-time gift. The grace of Jesus lives! The grace of Jesus reigns!

To help in the time of need’ - You ever hear/sing the song “I Need Thee Every Hour”? Just my opinion, but I think it’s always our time of need (whether we realize it or not). “I need Thee every hour. Most gracious Lord; No tender voice like Thine can peace afford. I need Thee, O I need Thee; Every hour I need Thee; O bless me now, my Savior; I come to Thee.” Oh, pity the soul that does not seek the Savior in the hour of need. For the help of Jesus reigns!
